Enova: Digital Annual Report Platform

With a growing need for sustainability and ESG reporting, our key insight was to build a platform that could present complex data clearly and interactively, and be updated regularly, year after year. In response, we developed a digital annual report for Enova that presents its yearly results in a solution that can also be used for future reporting.

Enova operates in a field often marked by complex, data-heavy annual reports, which can put off or confuse stakeholders. Enova therefore needed to share its story, achievements and sustainability data in a way that appeals to its owner and board (the Ministry of Climate and Environment), businesses, the press and the general public. It was also important to meet regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations.

Our challenge was to create a flexible, user-friendly and visually engaging solution that preserves the nuances of Enova’s work while communicating in a way that reaches a broader audience. The solution also had to last, while adapting to Enova’s changing needs.

In response to these challenges, we developed a digital annual report built around storytelling and user-friendly navigation. We used Vue and Nuxt as the full-stack platform, Sanity for content management, Algolia for search, Mux for video content and Siteimprove for data. The result is an accessible platform that turns complex data into engaging stories.

The digital report presents Enova’s annual results in a dynamic and understandable way through interactive charts and intuitive data visualisation tools. We integrated synchronised quotes with audio clips from Enova’s employees, which give the report a human touch. We also developed new content that highlights individuals and companies leading the way towards a low-emission society in Norway, giving a more personal and relatable perspective on Enova’s work.

Building on these technologies, we designed a solution that lets Enova connect data from multiple sources easily. The content studio simplifies the editorial workflow and makes it easier to gather insights, analyse trends and create new content.

The report is built to be used for future reporting, so Enova can update content and data year by year without starting over.
