Kavlifondet needed a website that could keep pace with their vision. We created a new digital platform, bold in design, seamless to use, and built to showcase their work in a clearer, more engaging way.

About the project
Kavlifondet is a Norwegian charitable foundation that owns the Kavli Group and reinvests all company profits into social causes. Based in Bergen and established in 1962, the foundation supports initiatives within mental health, climate and environment, and sustainable development. Active across the Nordics, the UK, and selected global regions, Kavlifondet collaborates with organisations that create lasting, positive impact in society.
Our task was to take Kavlifondet's website from outdated and text-heavy to modern, inspiring, and easy to manage. The goal was not only to improve how the foundation presents itself online, but also to make sure the team behind the site has the right tools to keep it fresh and relevant. We designed and developed a new platform that puts stories and impact at the center, while giving editors the freedom to publish content without technical barriers.
The old website struggled to support Kavlifondet's needs. Pages were dense with text, visual storytelling was limited, and the structure made it difficult for visitors to navigate. Key information was hard to find, and the overall impression felt dated. The foundation needed a site that would reflect who they are today - professional, modern, and forward-looking, while also making life easier for the people maintaining it.
We started by rethinking the structure. The new site guides visitors more intuitively, with a clear hierarchy that makes important content easy to discover. Stories, projects, and updates are presented in a more engaging way, supported by stronger visuals, more breathing space, and a design that feels open and inviting.
On the technical side, we built the site with Sanity. This gave us the flexibility to create custom content types tailored to Kavlifondet's needs, from articles and project pages to data-driven modules and multilingual publishing. The editorial team now has a streamlined, intuitive system that makes publishing faster, more flexible, and far less dependent on technical support.
The result is a website that works harder for both visitors and the team behind it. For visitors, the new platform offers a smoother experience, easier to navigate, easier to understand, and far more engaging to explore. For the foundation's editors, the Sanity CMS has transformed daily work, giving them confidence and freedom to update the site whenever they need.
In short, the new website reflects Kavlifondet as they are today: modern, transparent, and impactful. It's a platform built not just for now, but for the future.
